Flux Pavilion – I Can’t Stop (Ekali Tribute) (Free Download)
Ekali set his hand to Flux Pavillion’s all-time classic I Can’t Stop. He stuck close to the original, which is why he didn’t call it a remix but rather a tribute. Doesn’t matter, it’s very brilliant.
When confronted with the following comment on Facebook, “Its too similar sounding to the original. If you’re gonna choose to remix a classic that’s really old you need to like really change it“, Ekali responded, “I think of it in a different way. This is more of a tribute. Touching a timeless song is a fragile thing to do, and I chose to keep the arrangement very close and use a different sound palette”.
Before we engage in qubbling, we’d rather rummage in Ekali‘s catalogue a bit longer. And, indeed, there we find a proper remix. One that deserves the name.
Let’s be honest: If you’re a great producer, your work will be good, whether it’s a remix, a tribute, a flip, a twist, a spin, whatever. It’s your original production that matters most anyway. And Ekali convinced us in that department too.
